COVID-19 UPDATE

REC Center Members:

The REC Center will not open for “one person at a time” per Governor Reynolds’ proclamation on 5/6 for Henry County.  We will wait for her next announcement when she loosens restrictions even further for those 22 counties.

The Administrative Team at the REC Center has been working tirelessly to create a plan for when a new proclamation is put in place.  We will finalize details after hearing an announcement and follow all CDC, State and Federal guidelines.  We will try our best to make this as safe and fun as we possibly can, given the circumstances.  Please know that we have YOUR best interest at heart and this reopening will be different for all of us.

REMINDER – All memberships are still frozen at this time.  May payments will not be withdrawn.

Support:

The REC Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and the hard truth is that The REC Center relies on your membership as its source of revenue to operate.  Without charging membership fees during this time, it will be a major financial strain.  Here is how you can help:

  • You can choose to continue your monthly draft and convert your membership fee to a donation. The REC will maintain your current draft amount, or you can choose a different amount. We will convert the draft payment into a donation and provide you with appropriate documentation for tax purposes. When the REC reopens, your membership will continue at your original rate and regular draft date.
  • Make a one time donation.

If you decide that you want to support the REC, please email [email protected] to set up a donation.

Sincerely,

Executive Director

  • Prepaid Memberships: Will be extended for the length of time that we are closed.
  • Recurring Memberships: For those who pay by a bank draft or debit/credit, we will freeze automatic withdrawals going forward and resume them when we re-open.

COVID-19 UPDATE

To Our Valued REC Members & Guests:
On Sunday, March 15, 2020 – after input from local public health experts, REC Center Board of Directors and recommendations from the CDC, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our facility in an effort to prevent continued spread of COVID-19. This closure will be in effective starting March 16, with an anticipated reopening date of March 30. Rest assured that this decision was not taken lightly.

The REC Center is a not only a family fitness & recreation center, but a relationship building organization. We bring people together – large numbers of them, from all backgrounds and circumstances – and create personal connections. We understand that exercise opportunities & social connections will be lost during this time period, and we apologize for that.

As we follow the reports and learn about COVID-19, we know that the very nature of how it spreads presents significant challenges to how we deliver our mission to promote quality living and well-being for people of all ages through fitness, recreation and wellness opportunities. We also know that it affects high-risk populations, many who are in The REC Center daily, and understand we have an obligation to protect our staff, members, and our community has a whole. Your safety and health are our priority.

We understand that many of our members may be facing financial uncertainty. If you have concerns about your membership account, please email  and we can put a temporary hold on your membership account at no cost.

To help you stay active, the REC Center will post a daily workout on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/mpreccenter) that you can do in the convenience of your home.

It is our strong intention to resume all normal operations on March 30. As things change, we will continue to keep you informed. We are grateful for your understanding, flexibility and support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Ryan Duffie
Executive Director
